Fall 2009 Fashion Runways: BCBG Max Azria

Umm...it was as if this collection had split personalities, with the depressive personality ascendant. BCBG has previously been one of my go-to brands, offering sensual, beautifully tailored clothes; but not this coming Fall. The collection presents the dichotomy of lovely dresses, inspired by the Marlene Dietrich era, contrasted with hideous space pod coats and shapeless, drab muumuus. Bon Chic, Bon Genre?* Not so much.

Seriously, Uncle Max, if I, who am your longtime fan, your cheering section — I, who want to love each outfit you design — if I, of all people, am wondering if the alien's have abducted you, then how will those not favorably predisposed toward your collection react?
"Oi, oi, oi!" I say.

* Translates something like "Very chic, great attitude."

Am enjoying your coverage very much! Just thought you should know that bon chic bon genre actually means "good style, good family." Doesn't translate so well into English but it connotes someone from a good family who is chic. Don't let Urban Dictionary fool you with their definition - it's not slang, it's an old French expression.

My brother-in-law is Parisian, and that's how he translates it. But, he is a man and men are fallible :D
