Glamour Girls: Salma Hayek Hollywood's Sexiest Star

On Wednesday, 11 July 2007, Forbes.com ran a piece saying Salma Hayek is the sexiest star in Hollywood. According to E-Poll Market Research, which provides rankings for more than 3,000 celebrities, 65% of the U.S. population would use the term "sexy" to describe Salma Hayek, 40.

Many people derided this on their blogs, but as far as this Glam Girl is concerned, it is an honor Salma richly deserves.

Salma Hayek first caught the eyes of America when she starred opposite Antonio Banderas in Desperado (1995), the mainstream sequel to Robert Rodriguez's cult (and film class staple) film El Mariachi. How much sex appeal can be packed into one film, I ask!

This was followed by From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), in which Salma played a gorgeous vampire. The dancing with a snake and pouring a tequila shot off her body left male viewers' heads spinning for quite a while. In one interview I saw, Salma said nearly every exotic dancer she comes across asks her to teach it to them.

We first got a glimpse of Salma's acting chops as a comedienne in Fools Rush In (1997), a fantastic romantic comedy with Matthew Perry. If you haven't seen this one, rent it, you won't be disappointed. It's a shame Salma hasn't accepted more romantic comedy roles.

Salma Hayek has gone on to have a long and prolific career, with 20 award nominations (including the Oscar nomination for Frida (2002)) and 7 awards. She is also possibly the only woman in the world who can pull off a unibrow and still look glamorous.

Salma Hayek's latest projects include both appearing in and executive producing the TV hit Ugly Betty, and her own personal project of starting a family with fiancé, French millionaire François-Henri Pinault. Even pregnant, Salma looks stunning.

Sometimes Salma Hayek's fashion choices tread the line of good taste, but she is always glamorous and gorgeous. If I woke up tomorrow looking like Salma Hayek, I wouldn't consider it a terrible tragedy :)
